If you’ve been on TikTok or Instagram, you’ve probably seen the everything shower floating around. In these videos, girls seemingly use hundreds of products and several hours to clean and moisturize every part of their body.
Not all everything showers take hours. In fact, they’re entirely customizable to you and your needs. It’s a nice way to indulge and refresh yourself after a long week.
If you’re interested in learning more about them, you’ve come to the right place. In this post, you’ll learn what an everything shower is and how to take one.
What Is an Everything Shower?
An everything shower is an indulgent event where you do all your favorite hygiene and self-care activities. Unlike regular showers, the point isn’t to do the bare minimum as quickly as possible. It’s to pamper and care for your body.
Reasons to Take an Everything Shower
Self Care
Everything showers are the ultimate form of self-care, combining pleasure and chores to help yourself feel better. It’s the perfect time for that fancy face mask you’ve been saving or do something simple but effective, like shaving.
Health
You know you should exfoliate, use a facial serum, or [insert healthy habit here]. But you don’t always have the time to do those things. An everything shower gives you the time and motivation to get them done.
Customizable
Everything showers might seem like a lot of work. How do people have time for all that? But their beauty is that they’re entirely customizable to you, your time, and your needs.
How to Take an Everything Shower
Everything showers are designed specifically for you. But if you’ve never tried one, you might not know where to start.
That’s why we created this step-by-step guide to help you figure out your ideal routine. Once you figure out what you like, write it down and put it in your bathroom as a reference.

Pre-Shower
Skincare
- Wash your face. Remove any dirt, oil, or makeup with micellar water or your favorite cleanser.
- Put on a face mask (optional). As you prep for your shower, this is the perfect time to apply a face mask and let it sit for 10-20 minutes.
- Exfoliate (optional). You can exfoliate before your shower with a dry brush or pumice stone.
- Trim your nails. Don’t forget to file them for a neat finish.
Hair Prep
- Brush your hair to remove tangles. Gently brush from tips to roots to make showering a breeze.
- Apply a hair mask (optional). Like exfoliating, you may decide to do this in the shower instead. Otherwise, try applying it at the same time as your face mask.
Set the Mood
- Add a scent. Lean into the spa-like experience with a candle, essential oil diffuser, or shower fizz.
- Turn on something to listen to. Soothing music, your favorite artist, or even a podcast can help the time fly by as you shower.
In the Shower
Hair
- Shampoo. For extra clean hair, try doing a double shampoo by using a clarifying shampoo followed by a moisturizing one. Massage them in using a scalp massager to help encourage blood flow.
- Conditioner. Focus your application on the ends for the best results. If this is the last step in your hair care routine, let the conditioner sit for 5-10 minutes before washing it out.
- Hair mask (optional). If you didn’t do a hair mask earlier, now’s the perfect time. Put it in and let it sit while you finish your body care.
Body
- Shave. You’ve come this far, so take a few minutes to shave your legs, pit, and bikini line (if you’d like). Use a quality shave cream for smooth skin and no irritation when you’re done.
- Exfoliate (optional). If you didn’t exfoliate pre-shower, go ahead and do it now. A loofah, body scrub, or exfoliating gloves are all good options.
- Wash your body. Get out your favorite soap or body wash and remove any leftover hair care products, dead skin, or dirt.
- Apply cleanser (optional). Some people like to wash their faces in the shower to save time. Just make sure the water isn’t too hot so it won’t irritate your skin.
Post-Shower
Skincare
- Apply body moisturizer. You’ve spent a lot of time in the water at this point, so start by applying body oil, lotion, or butter to rehydrate your skin.
- Facial treatments (optional). Add any serums, toners, or other skin treatments you’re currently using.
- Moisturize your face. Finish everything off with your favorite moisturizer for soft, supple skin.
Haircare
- Add hair oil (optional). While you already used conditioner, hair oil can help bring even more hydration and volume to your hair.
- Dry your hair. Use your favorite drying method, such as a low dryer or hair turban.
- Style your hair (optional). You may want to end the night by prepping your hair for the next day. Put it in curlers or just a simple braid to keep it out of the way.
The everything shower is not something you want to do every day. But it can be a great once-in-a-while indulgence that leaves you feeling like a new woman.
