The beginning of the year is the slowest time for new movies. But as we head out of winter and toward summer blockbuster season, the exciting releases ramp up.
For thrill seekers, you have The Bride! or Apex. Families can enjoy films like Hoppers or The Mandalorian and Grogu. And there’s Tow or Remarkably Bright Creatures for those who want a good cry.
In this post, you’ll find our top recommendations for spring movies 2026. No matter what kind of movies you like, there’s something here for you. Let’s dive in!
March

The Bride!
March 6, Theaters
What’s it about? In 1930s Chicago, groundbreaking scientist Dr. Euphronious brings a murdered young woman back to life to be a companion for Frankenstein’s monster. What happens next is beyond what either of them could ever have imagined.
Last year, we got Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein. This year, it’s time to explore the bride. Starring Jessie Buckley and Christian Bale as the lead monsters, the trailers already look fantastic and fabulous. The 1930s setting is also a great choice for the film.

Hoppers
March 6, Theaters
What’s it about? When scientists discover a way to transform human consciousness into robotic animals, Mabel uses the new technology to uncover mysteries of the animal world that are beyond anything she could have ever imagined.
Pixar’s latest film dives into a new world- the animal kingdom. The film looks quite quirky, with animation that seems to finally be steering away from the “bean mouth” aesthetic of recent years.

Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man
March 6, Theaters (March 20, Netflix)
What’s it about? Amid the chaos of World War II, Tommy Shelby returns from a self-imposed exile to face his most destructive reckoning yet. With the future of his family and country at stake, Shelby must face his demons and choose whether to confront his legacy or burn it to the ground.
Return to the world of Peaky Blinders in this follow-up film to the hit BBC series. Cillian Murphy returns as the lead character, alongside returning and new cast members. It’s getting both a theatrical and streaming release, so you can pick how you want to see it.

War Machine
March 6, Netflix
What’s it about? During the final stage of US Army Ranger selection, an elite team’s training exercise turns into a fight for survival against an unimaginable threat.
Alan Ritchson of Jack Reacher fame takes on a new role in this Netflix original film. While it has a lot of similarities to Predator, it looks like a fresh take on the man vs monster storyline.

Tow
March 20, Theaters
What’s it about? The true story of Amanda Ogle, a homeless Seattle woman who fought her way out of tow-company hell to reclaim her life and car after receiving a tow bill for $21,634.
Rose Byrne stars in this touching story about a woman trying to reclaim her car. The story is simple, but it looks moving, so make sure to bring your tissues with you to the theater.

Project Hail Mary
March 20, Theaters
What’s it about? Science teacher Ryland Grace wakes up on a spaceship with no recollection of who he is or how he got there. As his memory slowly returns, he soon discovers he must solve the riddle behind a mysterious substance that’s causing the sun to die out. As details of the mission unravel, he calls on his scientific training and sheer ingenuity – but he may not have to do it alone.
Andy Weir’s The Martian was an instant classic when it was released, and Project Hail Mary looks set to be the same. It’s being directed by the iconic duo Lord and Miller, with Ryan Gosling in the lead, as the science teacher charged with saving the world.

Pretty Lethal
March 25, Amazon Prime
What’s it about? Five ballerinas find themselves in a fight for their lives when they seek shelter at a mysterious roadside inn that’s run by a former ballet prodigy.
A thriller action movie starring ballerinas? Yes, please! It’s definitely going to be campy, but it promises to be a good time for people who love movies like Black Swan or Ballerina. Plus, it stars actresses like Maddie Ziegler and Lana Condor.
April

The Mario Super Galaxy Movie
April 1, Theaters
What’s it about? Mario ventures into space, exploring cosmic worlds and tackling galactic challenges far from the familiar Mushroom Kingdom.
The Mario movie was an unexpected hit when it came out three years ago. Now they’re back for round two with a space adventure filled with new friends and enemies. It’s a great choice for a family theater outing this spring.

The Drama
April 3, Theaters
What’s it about? A happily engaged couple gets put to the test when an unexpected revelation sends their wedding week off the rails.
With Zendaya and Robert Pattinson starring in the movie, it has to be good. The trailers have left us with a lot of questions that we can’t wait to learn the answers to.

You, Me, and Tuscany
April 10, Theaters
What’s it about? Anna impulsively jets off to Tuscany, Italy, to stay at a stranger’s villa without permission. Caught inside the house by the man’s mother, she convinces the woman that she’s his fiancée. That little lie soon becomes a big problem when Anna develops a growing attraction to the stranger’s handsome cousin.
It’s been too long since we had a good, classic rom-com, and this movie looks poised to fit the bill. It’s probably going to be predictable, but we don’t care. Especially since it’s starring Halle Bailey and Rege-Jean Page as the lead couple.

Apex
April 24, Netflix
What’s it about? A grieving woman seeks solace in the wilderness only to become ensnared in a deadly game of cat and mouse with a serial killer.
Part survival movie, part thriller, this movie looks like a tense ride from beginning to end. Taron Edgerton looks especially interesting in his role as the killer hunting Charlize Theron’s character.

Michael
April 24, Theaters
What’s it about? The story of pop superstar Michael Jackson — from his extraordinary early days in the Jackson 5 to the visionary artist whose creative ambition fuels a relentless pursuit to become the biggest entertainer in the world.
Fans of pop star Michael Jackson will love this upcoming biopic tracing the rise of this global superstar. Jaafar Jackson, nephew of the titular character, stars as his uncle in a genius casting decision. It’s going to be an exciting, high-energy film.
May

The Devil Wears Prada 2
May 1, Theaters
What’s it about? Miranda Priestly struggles against Emily Charlton, her former assistant turned rival executive, as they compete for advertising revenue amid declining print media, while Miranda nears retirement.
20 years after the original movie graced our screens, a sequel is finally landing. Even with the main cast returning, will they be able to recapture the magic of the original? We’ll have to wait and see.

The Sheep Detectives
May 8, Theaters
What’s it about? George Hardy is a shepherd who loves to read murder mysteries to his sheep, never suspecting that they can understand him. When George is found dead under mysterious circumstances, the sheep decide to solve the crime themselves, even if it means leaving their meadow for the first time and facing the fact that the human world isn’t as simple as it appears in books.
Do you like talking sheep and Hugh Jackman? Then you’ll love this goofy upcoming detective movie. It looks funny and touching, in the vein of Peter Rabbit or Paddington.

Remarkably Bright Creatures
May 8, Netflix
What’s it about? Through unlikely bonds formed during night shifts at a local aquarium, Tova, an elderly widow, learns of a life-changing discovery that may bring her joy and wonder once again.
People praised the book Remarkably Bright Creatures when it was released. But will the movie be as well-received? It has a solid cast, led by Sally Field, so we’ll have to wait and see.

The Mandalorian and Grogu
May 22, Theaters
What’s it about? The evil Empire has fallen, but Imperial warlords remain scattered throughout the galaxy. As the fledgling New Republic works to protect everything the Rebellion fought for, they enlist the help of legendary Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin and his young apprentice Grogu.
The Mandalorian is finally heading to the big screen in Star Wars’ first box office release since The Rise of Skywalker. However, hopes are already low for the movie, which a lot of people say looks like a long episode of the show rather than a great standalone story.

I Love Boosters
May 22, Theaters
What’s it about? Follows a group of shoplifters who take aim at a cutthroat fashion maven.
This movie looks bold, colorful, and absurdist from the teaser trailer alone. With a stacked cast of great actors, we look forward to seeing more about this one as we get closer to release.
Which of these movies are you most excited to see?
